If you own a computer, you know how complicated it is for the newbie’s to set it up from scratch. The same is true when you deal with routers. Setting up a home network isn’t trivial, but it does not have to be overly complicated either. But when it comes to setting up the wireless router using an app, some may become confused as to what process to follow. In this blog, we will discuss how Asus wireless routers can be set up and optimized using the Asus router app.
Things that you will need for Asus Setup Wizard:
- High speed Ethernet Cable
- A working power connection
- Asus Router App installed on your mobile device. (The Asus Router App is available on both iOS and the Android app store platforms.)
Setting up your Asus Router
- Using an Ethernet cable connects the LAN port of the Modem with that of the router. Plug in the power cord and connect it to the power outlet.
- Connect the power cord to the router device as well, while connecting it to the AC power outlet of your home or office.
- Once the device switches on, make sure the power, Wi-Fi and the Internet LEDs on it are glowing. If any of these is not glowing, there is some issue with your device or the internet connection. In this case you will need to work on the same so a working internet connection can be established and you are able to proceed with the setup process seamlessly.
Now you are ready to begin the setup process using the Asus Router mobile app. The asus router setup wizard with this app will help you proceed.
- Open the Asus router app on your mobile device. When you are using the app for the first time, it will ask for permission to use the Wi-Fi feature of your phone. Click on the Enable Wi-Fi button at the bottom of the screen.
- Once you enable the Wi-Fi access for the app, it will look for any Asus routers in the device proximity. If your ASUS router is discoverable, a message with New Asus Router Found! will be displayed on the screen.
- Click on the button “I want to set up a new router” at the bottom of the mobile screen.
- Once you click on the button you will be redirected to a new page with a list of all the Wi-Fi networks.
- Click on the network name that you think belongs to the Asus router. A new screen with a welcome message will open up. This screen is the gateway to the asus router setup wizard.
- Click on the Start button on the screen.
- A new Wireless Settings page will be displayed on your mobile screen. This page is meant to set a new SSID and password to the network that you are establishing. Create a unique SSID/network name so you are able to identify the network easily.
- Create a strong password of at least 8 characters using a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters and symbols.
- The app will now redirect you to a new page named Configure Login. Here, you can change the administrator password from default to something you like. Make sure whatever password you use, it is strong and not something easily interpretable. Once done, click on the Next button.
- The app will now apply the new router settings. Wait for the Asus router management wizard to complete the process. It will only take a few seconds. Once done the app wizard will automatically show the internet connection status on the mobile screen.
